How to Start a Blog in 30 Minutes

For some people, blogging seems like an unattainable dream that requires years of training, patience, and expensive software. But it doesn’t have to be that way! With the right strategies, you can create and publish your first blog in 30 minutes or less. This guide will show you how to start a blog in 30 minutes, including what equipment you need, how to choose your niche, how to get started with writing, and more!

Step 1: Choosing a name

Choose your domain carefully. The .com and .net extensions are most popular, followed by .org, .us, and then others such as.biz. Make sure you’re not using someone else’s trademark or copyrighted name. Also make sure that it is easy to remember and spell, preferably with one word. 

Also, consider how it will look in search results—many people decide based on their first impression of a site from its URL alone. Think about how many times you may have typed Blogspot into your browser address bar before realizing that blogger was what you were looking for! If possible, try out several different options before making up your mind—you can always change it later if necessary.

Step 2: Creating your domain

Register your domain with Namecheap, Hostgator, Bluehost, or Siteground. To know more about creating a website, check out the Guide to starting your own WordPress. Step 3: WordPress and create your website at ThemeForest or Spark themes.

Step 3 – Designing your WordPress Theme

Before you begin WordPress or start writing your first post, you’ll want to design your new website. This might seem counterintuitive, but it’s true: Some of us are writers and some of us are designers. If you fall into one of these two camps, then don’t worry about designing your site—just start writing! But if you prefer to think visually as well as linearly, then I recommend that you invest time here in planning out how your website will look.

Step 4 – Setting up your hosting account

You need hosting to host your websites. You have several options but I personally use SiteGround, it’s cheap and comes with one-click WordPress. I’ve found that WP Engine is also great and costs quite a bit more, but it’s worth checking out if you don’t mind paying a little more.

Step 5 – WordPress

If you have an existing website or domain name where you want your new WordPress site to be hosted, you can skip steps 1-4 and jump right into step 5. This guide assumes that you do not have anything set up. If you’re serious about blogging, consider getting your own domain name (it’s cheaper than you think), or at least purchasing your own hosting plan from Bluehost. 

They are currently offering a domain when purchasing hosting plans! I use them for all my websites and love them. They make it super easy to get started and it doesn’t cost much at all; instead of paying per month, they charge $3.95/month which covers both WordPress AND hosting with SSL protection!

Step 6 – Registering an account on WordPress

WordPress is an open-source blogging platform & content management system (CMS) based on PHP & MySQL. It has lots of features like themes, plugins, widgets, custom CSS, etc. You can even build your own website using WordPress by it on your domain and by connecting it with domain names.

Step 7 – Configuring Settings of Your Blog

Now it’s time to write your first post. Write at least 50 words and choose which category you want it to be displayed under and with which format. You can also give your post an image if you want. Once done, click on Publish Post button. Congratulations! Your First Post is published! 🙂

Adding New Posts: Click on Add New button and follow the same steps mentioned above to add more posts to your site. After adding all posts, click on Publish button. That’s it! Now you have successfully created your own WordPress Website & published all posts! 🙂 

Setting Up Email Account: We will use MailChimp email marketing service provider (Email Marketing) where we will create our Email list & send Emails from our website to subscribers.

Step 8 – Welcome Page Setup

We are almost ready to begin creating content on our website. First, let’s set up our Welcome page and make sure all pages have unique titles. This can be easily done by going back into your Genesis Theme and clicking on any of your pages. 

When you do that you will see a title field above your text editor window. Now, enter only one title per page, while keeping them simple with just a few words so they are easy to remember if someone links directly to one of your pages instead of going through your site’s navigation system. Let’s also go ahead and change all WordPress user permissions as well as remove any blank image sizes or other settings you might find unnecessary.

Step 9 – Add New Post Page Setup

Primary Widget 1 Name (required): Chances are you want your primary widget block to display your latest posts. To do that, create a new widget area above by clicking Add New and then selecting Default from within any of your existing widget areas. 

Then click Save & Close. Set Front-End Editor and Text Mode. Appearance -> Widgets -> WPBakery Page Builder (or Visual Composer ) Drag and drop an individual Section into widgets area 1 – Alternative content. Content, color scheme, order.

Step 10 – Upload Image/Video Gallery Setup

After setting up an account you will want to add some images and videos that are related to your website. If you do not have any, take 5 minutes right now and go out and take 10–20 quality photos or videos. Make sure they are high resolution and that they follow your theme. 

It is also important to make sure there is a variety of content so it does not look like all of your content was created in one day. This step may seem unnecessary but it is actually very important if you want people to trust you as a source of information on whatever topic you are writing about. Remember people will always remember their first impression so make sure yours is good!

Step 11 – Extra Tags, Categories, and Custom Fields

These are extra tags, categories, and custom fields you can add to your post that provide even more detail about your content. There is no limit on how many tags you can use! To add any of these extra details, scroll down and enter them before pressing Publish below your post. These are available for professional blogs only.
