How can you make money from blogging? This may seem like a daunting question if you’ve never tried it before, but getting started is easier than you think! Follow these seven simple steps and you’ll be making money from blogging in no time, whether through affiliate marketing or through setting up your own ads and sponsored posts.
1) Sell your own products
One of the most profitable ways to monetize your website is by creating and selling your own products. If you’re an expert in a certain niche, you can sell ebooks, audiobooks, or videos created by yourself. It may take time before you have built up your reputation on an internet level but it will be worth it in terms of getting paid for what you know.
You could also look into affiliate marketing, which involves promoting other people’s products. This could provide a good source of passive income if you are promoting high-quality products that are related to your niche. Another option is writing articles for websites and magazines within your niche: these pay very well too.
2) Use affiliate marketing programs
Find a company that will pay you a referral fee for getting people to purchase certain products or services. This is commonly referred to as affiliate marketing. Sign up with several of these companies so that you’re always promoting different products.
The best part is that once you sign up with one company, you can promote other companies’ products on your site and earn from multiple sources. You won’t make money right away, but it will happen eventually if you keep at it. Look through some affiliate directories like CJ Affiliate by Conversant (formerly Commission Junction) or ClickBank to find good programs to join.
The content needs to be written in a way that makes it easy for readers to scan and retain information in an effortless manner.
3) Accept donations
Many blogs, especially those that focus on niche topics, can be supported by their readers through donations or subscriptions. Whether you want to set up a paywall and sell subscriptions (we wouldn’t recommend it) or use a service like Flattr, asking for donations is an easy way to start making money from your writing.
You don’t need much more than a PayPal account to get started, either. Just make sure you have clear information about how much people should donate and what they will receive in return.
4) Ask for subscriptions
Getting readers to subscribe is one of your biggest sources of income since you can charge a monthly fee and make recurring income. If you don’t ask, it won’t happen. And without an email list, it’s much harder for people to find you and for you to communicate with them about content that is relevant to their lives.

5) Write sponsored posts
Part of any blogger’s job is to produce fresh content, which isn’t always easy. The easiest way to get new content is through a sponsored post—you work with a brand to write something specific for them that appears on your site, and they give you money.
If you think you can pull it off without compromising your integrity (and ensure there are no sponsor laws against it), it’s an easy way to make some extra cash while expanding your reach at the same time. And if you do it right, brands will come back to sponsor more posts in the future. Check out sites like WordStream and SponsoredTweets for more info on how sponsored posts work.
6) Offer services as a virtual assistant
In a rush and need help with your homework? Can’t cook dinner for your family? Need more Twitter followers? There are thousands of people out there willing to assist you in completing personal tasks, from babysitting and taking care of animals all the way up to programming computers and managing social media accounts.
If you have a computer, phone, or Internet connection and can speak English (or another language), working as a virtual assistant is an easy way to make money online. Check out sites like Upwork or Zirtual to get started. And most importantly, if you’re looking to make some extra cash, be sure to check out my list of ways to earn extra cash on the side.

With so many myths floating around about Medicare, it’s no wonder that so many people are confused about what Medicare covers.
7) Rent out office space in your home
Did you know that nearly 30% of American workers work from home? Home offices can be awesome, but if you’re working as a freelancer or want to start your own business, it may not make sense for you. Luckily, there are alternatives: co-working spaces and shared office spaces.
If you don’t mind being around other people while you work, sharing an office space could be a great way to save some money on rent. If you do want to go all out with privacy, though, consider renting out an office in a coworking space – they’re often cheaper than traditional offices and perfect for entrepreneurs who need to meet with clients in person. You might even find that you enjoy working in a collaborative environment!
